A Rich History
Lake Wabukayne is one of the best hidden gems in Mississauga. Located just north west of the intersection of Erin Mills Parkway and Britannia, Lake Wabukayne is actually a storm management pond built in the 1970's. The group, "Friends of Lake Wabukayne" works to enhance and conserve this natural area surrounding Lake Wabukayne so that it can be a healthy and inviting environment for people, birds, animals and plant life.
Over the past 40 years, the lake has grown into a naturalized area and is home to many species of birds and wildlife. Part of the Wabukayne park trail, there is a walking path that circles the lake and is a great place to jog or stroll.
